Food Security & Hunger Relief
Providing free meals to vulnerable populations during crises and building sustainable food distribution networks.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Shade Charitable Trust stepped forward to address food insecurity among vulnerable populations. We organized free breakfast programs in the Manakkad area for travelers and common people who were experiencing hardship due to the pandemic. For two months continuously, we provided free breakfast meals daily, ensuring that those in need had access to nutritious food during these challenging times. Our food security initiatives focus on immediate hunger relief while building sustainable food distribution networks in communities.

Environmental Conservation
Tree plantation drives and environmental awareness programs promoting sustainable practices in communities.
Environmental conservation is at the heart of our mission. On World Environment Day, we launch tree plantation initiatives with the message ‘Shade trees are essential for humanity.’ We conduct tree planting programs in our trust office premises, school compounds, and various public spaces throughout Thiruvananthapuram. Our programs include free sapling distribution, community awareness programs, and partnerships with schools to educate children about environmental conservation.

We have successfully distributed materials to Government Central High School Attakulangara, C.H.M.K.M.V.H.S Vallakkadavu, and various other institutions.

Access to clean drinking water is a basic human necessity. Our drinking water project involves installing water dispensers in various public locations including mosque compounds, hospitals like Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital, Government Taluk Hospital Fort, Thaikkaadu Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Ayurveda College Hospital, and various educational institutions. Each installation is inaugurated by local officials ensuring community ownership.

Regular blood donation drives and supporting hospital infrastructure improvements for better healthcare access.
Healthcare access and blood donation are critical components of our public health initiatives. Our trust members regularly participate in blood donation drives at Anatapuri Hospital and R.C.C Medical College Hospital, contributing to blood banks and supporting patients in need. We also support hospital infrastructure improvements including maintaining water cooling systems and providing hot water facilities for patients and visitors.

Organizing recreational activities and support programs for elderly residents in old-age homes.
Recognizing the importance of caring for our elderly population, we organized special programs on International Day of Older Persons. We conducted a ‘City Tour’ program for elderly residents living alone in Thiruvananthapuram city old-age homes, providing them with joy and companionship. Our initiatives include recreational activities, partnerships with city officials and KSRTC for transportation, and creating opportunities for social interaction.

Public safety and infrastructure development are essential for community well-being. At the request of local police officials, we installed traffic signal boards on Thiruvananthapuram-Thiruvallam Highway to reduce accidents. Our public safety initiatives include installing traffic safety infrastructure, CCTV camera installation in mosques for security, and collaborating with police officials for community safety improvements.
